Hi AimLXJ,

Sorry if this what you meant by saying no matter which option you pick, but have you made sure that Stereo Mix is checked in the recording mixer? It sounds like it's possible that your microphone is set to be the current recording input, or perhaps Ventrilo is setting it back to Microphone. Other apps like Skype also take the liberty of setting the recording input to microphone for you. Jamcast will stream from the selected recording input, so if that's what you're hearing then it's a matter of just changing to Stereo Mix.

Let me know.

Thanks!

Hi InfernoZeus,

What operating system are you running?

The Windows volume controls for playback as well as the recording input (if XP) will affect playback volume.

Sometimes when people report low volume it's because the recording input on the PC is set to microphone. If running Windows XP, have you ensured that Stereo Mix is selected as the recording input? Also, as I mentioned in the above post, there are some applications like Skype or some webcams that change the recording input for you, so you might want to take a look at that as well.

Let me know how you do.

Thanks!

Hi Scott,

I was able to get the jamcast virtual soundcard working with my Roku Soundbridge M2000 tonight. I have Windows XP with Creative SB Live soundcard. It took some searching to find stereo mix, but I think this was the sequence:

Right Click speaker icon, adjust audio properties, select Volume, Advanced, Playback Control - Options, properties, adjust volume for recording, select Stereo Mix.

Once I found Stereo Mix, I was able to play XM Radio online through the playlist option of virtual soundcard on the roku. I am very pleased! I do have to turn the sound down on my JBL speakers attached to the PC due to the sound delay between them and the Roku, but that's not a problem.

Thank you so much!

Wyatt

RealTec HD Audio

My broadcasted audio is from my internal mic (I have a laptop) instead of my stereo mix, can't find where to change it.

Please advise.

PS- in the last version I didn't have this problem, it began when I upgraded to the latest version.

Hi kormn,

This sounds like a sample rate problem. Can you paste your medialog.txt to http://pastebin.org and share it here so I can have a look?

Thanks!

Hi theist,

Interesting. Which version is the "last version" you referred to? Was is 0.9.6.X or a previous version of the 0.9.7.X release?

Have you installed any new software (Skype, Webcam, etc.) that uses the microphone?

Also, on the Options tab in the Jamcast Server Manager, under the Options tab, is "Force hardware audio capture" checked or unchecked?

Thanks!

Hi, posted my medialog on the pastebin.org page.

my soundcard is configured to: 24bit 48000Hz on play and record.

My ps3 is also 48000Hz.

Anything special on my log?

Thank you scott for your assistance!

Hey there,

With pastebin, it gives you a link to share here. I need that link to see the logfile. Wink

You can re-paste it if you like, you'll see the share link after you submit it.

Thanks!

Got it!

I got another report on this issue the other day; I think this is a problem with Jamcast that somehow has never been reported before.

For fun, can you change your Soundcard to use 16-bit, 44.1kHz audio?

That aside, did you enable hardware-based audio capture (a checkbox on the Options tab)? On Windows 7, if you leave that unchecked this problem will go away I think.

So that's 2 possible solutions while I look into fixing the issue at hand. Let me know.

Thanks!

1. I checked by using "Sound Recorder" (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Entertainment->Sound Recorder) and it was only recording on what was playing on my desktop not from my microphone

2. I tried all options (resetting Jamcast for each option) and still the same problem

Native Vista (WASAPI) audio loopback capture was added in the Beta 1.4 release of Jamcast.

hi, i'm running version 1.8, but i'm not seeing jamcast in my Vista Recording Devices window.

i'm using one of those sigmatel soundcards which prohibit loopback recording. "stereo mix" is unavailable in the Vista recording devices window (even with "show disabled devices" and "show hidden devices" checked).

however, this wasapi app allows me to record internal pc audio (where most other recording apps cannot).

is there a way to do loopback recording with jamcast?

thanks

Hi johnywhy,

On Vista/Windows 7, Jamcast does WASAPI loopback capture very similar to what is described in Matthew's blog. Jamcast will not show up in the Recording Devices window; this is normal.

From your device, you should be able to browse to Playlists->Virtual Soundcard and play what you're hearing on the PC.

Let me know if you still require assistance.

Thanks!

Software recorders don't have "playlists". They have recording "devices".

The only recording device i see available in my software recorders is the microphone.

Hi johnywhy,

Right, and that's OK. On Vista, the available recording devices are irrelevant because WASAPI loopback is a capture of what's going to Playback.

What's the problem you're having exactly?

Thanks!

Hi johnywhy,

This software is for streaming audio from your PC to a UPnP/DLNA compliant device like the Playstation3 or Xbox360. On those devices, you connect to Jamcast and browse to the Virtual Soundcard and can listen to whatever is playing on your PC.

As far as actual recording goes, that is not what Jamcast does.

I hope this helps.

Thanks!
