I got a TEAC WAP-5000. I'd like to know if it will be supported? Anyone here who tried it?

Thanks

Hi Jan,

You're the first user to ask about this particular device, and I don't have one of these on the test bench, so...

It should work, but I don't know if it does. If it doesn't work, I'll work hard to make it. Have you tried it? What was your experience like?

Thanks!

Hi, I got a teac wap 5000. Easy setup (windows 7) and it works although I have some issues.
Don't know if they're related to the teac device. The playback stops once in a while for a few seconds.
If I can resolve this issue I'd surely buy a licence because the virtual soundcard feature rocks.

Thanks

Hey giacomociti,

Thanks for stopping by, glad you like the Virtual Soundcard.

The interruptions in playback sound like rebuffering. Are Jamcast and the WAP5000 communicating over a wireless network?

If so, other than running on a wired network, you have two options:

1) Improve the quality of your wireless network. Changing wifi channels on the router helps a lot of people.

2) Open Jamcast Server Manager, Devices tab, right-click on the Teac and choose Properties. Set ForceMP3CaptureStream to True and save your changes, then restart the Teac and try again. This changes the Virtual Soundcard to be an MP3 stream, which requires only about 20% of the network performance as the default (LPCM).

Hope this helps. If you're still having trouble after this, let me know and post your medialog.txt along with it so I can have a look.

Thanks!

Hi Scott, thanks for your quick reply. Even after setting ForceMp3CaptureStream true I still have interruptions. Here's a snippet of medialog (playing a couple of wav files I had three interruptions at 23:02:14, 23:09:09 and 23:09:45).

Cheers,
Giacomo

Hi Giacomo,

I'm not sure that this will have anything to do with anything, but I noticed that the WAP-5000 is requesting the WAV stream, and being that it's DLNA compliant it should most definitely support LPCM. I'd rather it use the LPCM stream just because it's one less moving part.

Go back into the device properties and select the ProtocolInfo setting, then click the ellipsis (...) button on the right to edit. Remove audio/wav from the list and save your changes. Restart the WAP-5000 and see if you have better luck.

If this doesn't help, if you wouldn't mind posting the log again I would like to see the changes from this configuration. If you'd like to just paste the log data from today, that would be fine.

Good luck! Smile

Thanks!
Scott

Hi Scott,
sorry I had no time to experiment further (I'm a programmer too, you know what I mean Smile
Anyway changing some wi-fi setting I got improvements.
I'll let you know any news. Thanks a lot for now.

Hi Giacomo,

Oh good. Yes, I know exactly what you mean. It's why I haven't slept that much this week. Wink

Keep me in the loop.

Thanks!
