Hi All

I'm new to Jamcast, which I just downloaded in order to be able to stream spotify to my PS3. I had several glitches to begin with that I was able to fix through the messages posted on this forum, but unfortunately I am stuck now. I am streaming Spotify all right and during the first few seconds everything is working very well. However the stream cuts out repeatedly for a few seconds and after the 2nd or 3rd cut-out, I seem to be streaming too fast. The music is coming through all jumpy and fast, a bit like when forwarding a playing CD on old-style CD players. I think someone posted a similar problem at the end of December but the thread seems to end there without a suggestion of a solution.

I am so close to finally being able to use spotify through my speaker system without connecting my laptop directly to the amp, yet I am soo far awayCrying

Please Help!!

Seb

Hey seb,

Sorry to hear you ran into this problem. I'm guessing you're running Jamcast on either Win7 or Vista, is that correct?

Can you specify whether or not the "streaming too fast" issue involves a change in pitch to the audio (chipmunks), or is the audio at the correct pitch but just skipping forward in time?

It's possible you just need to increase the size of the capture buffer (easy fix). I can confirm that if you can paste your medialog.txt to http://pastebin.org and share it here.

Thanks!

Hi Scott

Thanks for your reply. I am actually running Jamcast on Windows XP. Could that be the problem? I have tried changing the buffer size but unfortunately that doesn't help. I still get cut-outs until the streaming eventually starts skipping (no chipmunking, the pitch sounds about right).

After reading some more of the comments in the posts here, I wonder whether I might need to try changing wifi channel. Could it be that?

I have pasted my medialog as requested. Please let me know what you think.

Thanks in advance

Seb

Hi Seb,

Thanks for clarifying your OS. Wireless network performance would contribute to the capture audio buffer filling up, but I don't think that would cause the behavior you've described.

The logfile will tell me a lot, but you didn't share the link to it here so I can't see it. Wink

Pastebin.org will give you a link after you submit the logfile. Just copy and paste that link here and I'll be able to see your log.

Thanks!

Hi Scott

Sorry about that. Thought you would simply see it under my name (sgaigg).

Here is the link to the log-file (http://www.pastebin.org/275013).

Thanks for looking into it.

Hi Seb,

I can definitely see where the capture buffer is filling up, and this would cause some disturbances in the audio stream.

To increase the size of the capture buffer, open Jamcast Server Manager and click the Sharing Tab, then the Virtual Soundcard sub-tab. Change the size of the capture buffer to 30 seconds as a starting point, and see if you get better results.

But the bigger problem here is that you are likely not getting the wifi performance to the PS3 necessary to keep the playback consistent. If you're not able to use a wired connection, changing wifi channels can sometimes make a big difference.

Hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks!

Scott
