Hello,
this is probably not the first time you get the question but I have been looking around for several days to try getting this to work but still no success so I will try here now.

As the topic says I want to stream Spotify from my computer to my Xtreamer using Jamcast.

It is all setup, I can see the server under UPnP in Xtreamer, I can browse it and I can even play a podcast.

But when i try to play a song that I am sharing it says "Invalid Music file" and the file size on the song is 0MB, the song is an mp3.

Also when trying to listen to the stream I can find it under playlist/Virtual soundcard but once again the size is 0B and when clicking on it nothing happens.

I have Windows 7 and i use the "Windows core audio engine loopback", but this is where i think it might fail on me, because when I play something on Spotify I get audio on my laptop speakers, I have a feeling it is not suppose to do that when you loop the audio.

Might it be because the computer came with Vista and I upgraded it myself to Windows 7?

I think that is all the info I can give.

Thanks in advance for the help

Sincerely
Bjorn

Hi Bjorn,

Thanks for stopping by. Indeed Jamcast does provide no size metadata with the Virtual Soundcard track (because it's unlimited, or infinite), and some devices don't handle this very well as seems the case here.

However, Jamcast has a trick mode that you can enable, which will supply a large size and duration for the track to help in cases like this. Open Jamcast Server Manager and click the devices tab, the select the item that represents your Xtreamer, right-click and choose Properties. Set EnableSeekTrickMode to True and apply your changes, then restart the Xtreamer and Jamcast for good measure.

See what that does. If you're still having issues, please paste your medialog.txt (located in the Jamcast install directory) to http://pastebin.org and share it with your next reply so I can look for clues. And then we'll take it from there. Smile

Thanks!

Scott

Unfortunately that didn't help.

The log is really not much at all so I'm just gonna post it here but don't think you will get anything out of it.

Hi darkzone,

Hmm, OK. The logfile is pretty helpful actually because it tells me that the device has yet to actually make any requests to Jamcast yet for streaming audio. Smile

There's another device setting called ForceMP3CaptureStream. Can you set that to True, and try that with EnableSeekTrickMode set to both True and False (to see which combo works, if any).

Please restart everything after each change, and if you see any new activity in the logfile at any point please pass it along.

By the way, be extra sure that the device you're editing in Jamcast matches the IP address of the Xtreamer. Don't want to edit the wrong device on accident. Wink

Hope this helps.

Thanks!

Hi Scott,
Thank you for the help so far, there have been some changes.
I was trying this on my friends xtreamer to decide if I wanted to buy one myself, now I'm back in the states and turned out my roommate had bought a Apple TV.
First thing we did was get boxee on it, have played around with it for a while now and it is plenty of fun.
So now of course I would like to stream my music to the Apple TV running boxee.
We got a PS3 and it works great there so I could finally conclude that things are working as they should.
But when I add Jamcast on boxee it says disconnected when scanning starts, it seems like boxee are having some problems with upnp, if anyone got an idea on this one please feel free to share, so long I will run it on the ps3 which is no problem, just nicer to have everything on the same place Smile

Hi darkzone,

Glad you go things sorted out.

I actually didn't know that Boxee had UPnP funtionality, so I will be interested to see how this issue ends up.

Thanks!
