Jamcast Beta 1.4 (build 0.9.4.5) has been released and is available for download. Highlights of this release include WASAPI audio capture support and an overhauled media storage system.
Jamcast now supports WASAPI audio capture on Windows Vista and Windows 7 platforms. This enhancement to the virtual PC audio streaming feature allows native audio capture without reliance on the features of your soundcard as with Windows XP and previous operating systems.
Virtual PC audio streaming has also been enhanced with a per-device option to deliver the capture stream in MP3 format. Users with wifi network congestion may find this feature useful in the prevention of device audio buffering. Enable this option in a device's properties via the Server Manager's Devices tab.
The library storage system has been significantly overhauled to address a number of lingering issues with the way shared media metadata is stored and retrieved from the database. Included in the issues that were addressed with this overhaul are various performance improvements in both library scanning and search/browse functions, comprehensive Unicode support, and greater metadata/filesystem path storage capacity. Finally, the duplicate artists bug was resolved in this build. My apologies for not providing a fix to this sooner.
