Trying to play Pandora on my Xbox 360 with Dell Vista PC laptop.

No one seemed to mention this but, I was getting feedback on my television. It seemed to be because my mic was picking up the sound from my PC so I plugged in my midi-to-midi jack (headphone output to microphone input) and it solved that problem.

Is there another way to get around this by changing my settings or something?

Typically, the recording inputs are mutually exclusive (ie can't select more than 1 at a time). If you look at your recording mixer sliders, do you have mute checkboxes for each of the inputs? Maybe it's as simple as muting your mic recording input.

I got all pumped until I found out it don't work with Vista, then got a little promise when I read the forums about you releasing a new version with Vista support. Can't wait, and great idea!

Hey thanks for stopping by.

It's worth mentioning that the Virtual PC Audio Stream doesn't not necessarily work with Vista -- you'll have to go thru the process of setting up your audio drivers according to the FAQ above to know for sure. Me personally, my soundcard has what I need to stream PC audio from Vista.

Thanks!

Just got my system configured so that I can listen to Pandora through my Roku. Uh, Scott. You flippin rock dude. I followed your instructions and I got it running in about a 1/2 hour. I hope they are paying you well over there.
Thanks very much.

Hi! I want all the audio generated on one of my Windows machines to be played by another of my Windows machines, so I reckoned that Jamcast's virtual PC audio stream is exactly what I need.

I've set up Jamcast on the broadcasting computer, but I'm a bit confused about how I'm supposed to set up the client computer, the one that will be receiving the stream. I've tried pointing the browser to http://10.14.15.7:58641/vsc/stream where 10.14.15.7 is the local IP of the server machine running Jamcast, but it just times out. No firewalls are running.

Can I hook into the stream with Windows Media Player or something?

Cheers,
Jamie.

Hi Jamie,

The virtual PC audio stream is currently delivered as LPCM audio data. So, as far as I know, Windows Media Player won't play it. I'm not sure, but I would guess that a more versatile player, like WinAmp as an example, would play an LPCM audio stream.

Hope this helps.

Thanks!

Thanks Scott. I've tried Winamp, but without success, and googling "winamp lmpc" doesn't turn up much.

If I could just listen to the stream via my browser, that would be great --- any idea why it's just timing out?

Cheers,
Jamie.

Hello Scott,
I don't want to seem pushy but I was wondering whether you have made any progress with version 1.4 for those of us who cannot get a stereo mix off our sound cards ?
Hope you can help.

Hi Simon,

I have yes, and I have a preview build available for those who would like to take a look and help me iron out the kinks. PM me or email me if you'd like to have access to this build, and I'll make it so.

Thanks!

Dear Scott,
You very kindly sent me the beta version of 1.4 which I had problems with. My Soundbridge upsamples from 44.1 kHz to 48 kHz. I understand that this was what was causing all my music to sound speeded up when using this version.
You have obviously addressed this with the release version of 1.4 as it now works flawlessly.
Thank you very much for your assitance in this.

Scott: You are one seriously rockin' developer. I wish MS hired people like you. My XP machine died its timely death (it was 7 years old) a couple weeks ago Sad and I was forced (literally) to get a new Vista Home Premium machine. Blehh. I was really frightened (as per the norm with what I've been experiencing as I migrate my applications to my new machine) that I would be faced with hours of tweaking in order to get Jamcast to work in the new Vista OS (otherwise known as Mordorâ„¢). Nope. The BIG tip was to check "Show disabled devices." Very tricky, Mr. Gates! And very well done, Mr. Scott. My Soundbridge is crankin' tunes via Pandora as I write this!

Thank you!

I can see and access to the "DLNA/My Music collection/Browse Playlist/Virtual Souncard" on my TV but when a try to playt it i have the message "Unknown File format".

Then i had a look on the medialog file (see below):

Hi tt53,

No, you didn't miss anything -- according to your logfile, you're getting an error from Windows Vista when trying to initialize the audio capture. All I could find on this error code (0x88890017) is "AUDCLNT_E_CPUUSAGE_EXCEEDED" and no other explanations. At face value, it sounds like the CPU utilization on that PC of yours was too high to allow for successful audio capture.

Can you confirm this to be the case?

Thanks!

Hi David,

On your Soundbridge, do you get the normal "Buffering..." and then does the playback clock count up when you play the Virtual PC Audio track?

If so, and you can hear audio coming from your PC speakers, then this would typically indicate a configuration issue with your soundcard -- although it sounds like you've gone thru the necessary steps to set the recording input properly.

If you are not getting the Buffering/play clock, then this would indicate some sort of error... in which case, if you could provide me with your medialog.txt that would be very helpful in determining the cause.

Thanks!

Hi

yes it does, when I posted here the playback clock has been running in nearly 40 minutes, So as you say there may be a config issue with my soundcard. btw I tried to just do a simple recording from my soundcard into Soundforge (sound editing program) and that worked out fine, so the loopback functions seem to work properly.

Interesting. Do you have multiple audio cards / drivers by chance?

Your test with Soundforge... are there configurations in there that you've made to select the source audio device and recording input, or is that just feeding off of how Windows and your audio card are already set up?

Thanks!

for just a couple a minutes ago I discovered that the virtual soundcard stream from jamcast picked up sounds from my webcam, but is now unplugged, the webcam a Microsoft Lifecam VX1000

the settings in soundforge is the same as in the soundcardmixer, I choose (in soundforge) playback device and recording device then i must open up the soundcardmixer and check wich source I wannna record from, ie, aux, mic, line in, stereo mix, telephone etc etc.

/David

PS AND NOW IT WORKS DUNNO WHAT I DID OR WHAT HAPPEND THE VIRTUAL SOUNDCARDS IS WORKING THX ALOT FOR YOUR PATIENCE !!!

HOOOORAY Smile now shall my brother have jamcast on his computer.

thanx alot again.
