Hi,

I'm trying to use the URL described above on my Squeezebox, I've gone into Squeezenetwork and added the URL with my PC's IP address and the default Jamcast port, but it just times out. I've made sure the port is open in both my McAfee and O2 Firewalls but still no good. Any ideas?

Hi simoni,

Does the Squeezebox support the audio/L16 mime type? I'm not sure as I've not had much experience with it given that it's not a UPnP/DLNA device.

The stream is audio/L16 (LPCM audio), so if the device doesn't support it this may be the issue.

Hi. Any plans to allow this to listen to what is being played on another PC. I would like to move Jamcast to my server but dont want to loose the ability to listen to what my laptop is playing.

Hi V4lve,

If I get enough requests for this, I can see where it would be possible to accomplish this. It would require an application to be running on the laptop though -- to intercept the virtual audio stream, it must be done locally.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Alright. Got this working fine on Vista now, but I was just wondering if there was any way to play the audio only on the xbox and have the computer muted, as there is a pretty annoying lag between the two. Thx.

Hi shniper,

Some but not all soundcards will allow you to adjust the master volume without affecting the stream to your device. But, when all else fails, turn down the volume on the speakers themselves.

Regarding the delay, this is unfortunately the nature of buffering on the device.

Hope this helps.

I am not sure if this is known or not, but I will throw it out there. I have found a work-around for the audio delay while playing video. If you use VideoLAN, it gives you the ability to adjust the sync by changing the time the video is in advance(or behind) of the audio. I was able to delay the video by 5 seconds which put the audio/video perfectly in sync while streaming to my Denon AVR-3808. If only the same could be done for web-based videos.

Hello,

I tried Jamcast for the first time last night. Works very well with my Soundbridge however I cannot get the Virtual PC Audio Stream to work as I have a Dell C521 with Sigmatel sound card. Having had a good look around it would seem that it is not possible to get a recording input with a Stereo Mix on this even with some of the updates available for other PCs.

I am therefore holding out for your Beta 2 software in the hope that this will resolve the problem. Do you have any idea when this might be available ?

Thanks,

Simon.

Hi Simon,

Are you running Windows Vista? The solution for cards without an appropriate recording input will apply to the Vista OS only. Regarding a timeframe on that, I may not wait until Beta 2 due to the demand of this feature. In any event, it should be weeks, not months.

Thanks!

Dear Scott,

Thanks very much for your reply.

Yes I am running Vista so that sounds promising. I think that you have elsewhere referred to beta 1.3. Do you mean that you might be able to include this in 1.3?

Regards,
Simon

I need to close 1.3 and get it released, this revision cycle has been a little long for my taste. But I'm thinking I'll do a 1.4 before Beta 2 that will include fixes to 1.3 and enhancements to the Virtual Audio Stream.

Thanks,
Scott

Hello Scott,
I've successfully installed Jamcast. It connects with my Omnifi DMS device and I can listen to media stored on my computer, but cannot get the virtual soundcard to work... I've verified that my soundcard (SB Audigy 2ZS) is picking up sound coming through "What you hear" as if recording... The meters show that it is picking up audio. Don't know if I am missing something.

Hi Gus,

Does the OmniFi appear to be playing anything when you select the Virtual PC Audio stream?

I actually have a DMS-1 somewhere around here, so let me dig it out (it's been a while since it was on my test bench) and I'll verify that this isn't a device issue.

I'll get back to ya.

Thanks!

Scott,
Thanks for responding...
The display on the OmniFi shows that it is trying to load a stream, but the clock stays at zero and nothing appears to play...The other thing I noticed is that after a few seconds (10-15) of attempting to run the virsual stream, the DMS malfunctions to the point that nothing will play from my computer. At that point I have to reboot the player to get it running again...

Trying to play Pandora on my Xbox 360 with Dell Vista PC laptop.

No one seemed to mention this but, I was getting feedback on my television. It seemed to be because my mic was picking up the sound from my PC so I plugged in my midi-to-midi jack (headphone output to microphone input) and it solved that problem.

Is there another way to get around this by changing my settings or something?
