Hello from Germany,
great software so far. I got some questions if jamcast supports the TV device Sony KDL52W4500, and which DLNA version is used? Is it version 1.5? I use the media server H340 from Aspire which has Windows Home Server preinstalled.
How should jamcast be configured to function best with the shutdown/standby capabilities of the OS?
(that the database won't be damaged etc.)
Thank you for your answers.
Horst

As I already feared, the Sony TV does mark my Jamcast Server as "Failed" with the message "Es konnten keine kompatiblen Dateien gefunden werden" (English: No compatible files could be found.)
Here is my UPNP Log from Jamcast: (tried to quote it, but it breaks the website layout and smilies appear...)
http://up.stmq.de/files/upnp_log.txt
The "Devices" Tab in the Controlpanel shows the TV correctly.
It would be great if you could look into it.
Regards!

Hi Horst,
Thanks for stopping by. Let's see if we can't get your TV working -- it can't be too far off, Jamcast works with other DLNA devices including Sony's own PS3.
Can you describe in a little more detail at what point the TV errors out? I see form the logfile that it was able to successfully browse a little bit...
Also, can you take a look at the Sony TV device properties on the Jamcast devices tab? Specifically, I'm interested to see what Jamcast reports for the "ProtocolInfo" property.
I have a tool that I'm finishing up that I can send you; it will allow you to capture all of the network data between Jamcast and your TV so that I can analyze this issue in greater detail. Would you be willing to work with me on that in order to get Jamcast functioning with the Sony TV?
Thanks!
Scott

Good evening Scott,
thank you very much for your answer.
I would be glad to be more specific but the Sony TV only reports what I have already mentioned; I already use the more informational method "Serverdiagnose" to get out more information.
The ProtocolInfo Property gives me:
Quote:
http-get:*:image/jpeg
LNA.ORG_PN=JPEG_SM;DLNA.ORG_FLAGS=8cf00000000000000000000000000000,http-get:*:image/jpeg
LNA.ORG_PN=JPEG_MED;DLNA.ORG_FLAGS=8cf00000000000000000000000000000,http-get:*:image/jpeg
LNA.ORG_PN=JPEG_LRG;DLNA.ORG_FLAGS=8cf00000000000000000000000000000,http-get:*:audio/mpeg
LNA.ORG_PN=MP3;DLNA.ORG_FLAGS=8d700000000000000000000000000000,http-get:*:audio/L16
LNA.ORG_PN=LPCM;DLNA.ORG_FLAGS=8d700000000000000000000000000000
The TV supports showing images and music, no video.
It would be great if we could work together to get the TV working and I'll try to help you as much as I can.
Regards

Definitely not!
I'm going to send you that utility I mentioned this weekend; I'll notify you via private message here so you'll get an email notification that I've contacted you. Shouldn't take too much of your time, I hope... Sound OK?
Thanks for your patience!

Hi guys,
i have a similar problem.
I'm trying to view/play files on Sony Bravia KDL-32V5500 directly from my pc via wifi (temporally). Jamcast looks very promising. I successfully connect to the Jamcast server, server diagnostic looks ok too, but i can see Jamcast icon only under Music menu. Pictures and Video menus are empty. I've tried Windows Media Player 11 but unfortunately it is not able to transcode video files to MPEG2, which is only supported by Sony Bravia TVs (according Sony Tech Support).
Thanks.

Hi Dew-spec,
This is the correct behavior. Jamcast does not support video/pictures at this time (beyond album art, of course). The addition of this functionality will be the core featureset that will define Beta 2 of the product.
Thanks!
