There are some considerations to be aware of when sharing your media from a network location like a NAS drive or a UNC or mapped path to another computer on your LAN.
Mapped Drives
Mapped drives are not available from Windows services. To share media from these locations, use the UNC path that the mapped drive points to (ex: \\computer\share).
Changing the Jamcast Service Log On User
When the Jamcast Windows service is installed, it is configured by default to run under the built-in Local System security context. The Local System account has the necessary permissions to execute the service and access media on the local machine only. To access resources from network locations, you must change the service Log On user to one with permission to do so.
To change the Log On user:
1) Open the start menu, click Run, and type "services.msc" (no quotes) and press enter. This opens the Services control panel.
2) Scroll down and select the Jamcast service, right-click, and choose Properties.
3) Click the Log On tab and change the "Log on as" selection from "Local System account" to "This account:".
4) Provide the username and password of an account that has the necessary permissions to read from the network location.
5) Click OK to close the Jamcast service properties dialog.
6) Right click on the Jamcast service again and choose Restart. Jamcast now has the necessary permissions to serve files from your network drives.
If you have any questions about this, post them here.

Hi Scott-
I have just installed Jamcast on my Laptop, but have most of my data on my Home Server. I access Jamcast via network on my Laptop & can see all of my music.
The problem is, when I try to access Jamcast on my Yamaha RX-V3900, I'm unable to view any of my music from server or anywhere else for that matter.
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks

Hi mr_sonus,
So, Jamcast is installed on the laptop but you have media stored on your WHS box, correct? When you share the media on WHS via Jamcast, check the Sharing tab. Do you see the shared folder to WHS and does it show more than 0 tracks?
If it shows 0 tracks, have you change the Jamcast service logon user to one that you know has permission to the WHS shares? The default login user (LocalSystem) won't work.
Thanks!
Scott
