Hi,

I don't know if this has been answered somewhere, or if I'm just stupid and don't understand Smile

What I want to do is to play the same song on 2 different PCs in 2 different rooms at the same time.
In other words, using a laptop computer as a network media device, and still hearing the music from both of the computers.

Is this possible with Jamcast, and in that case, will there still be a delay in the music on the laptop?

Hi Jonaset,

Good question. Smile

It's not really possible to do this given the set of technologies Jamcast is based upon. You might get pretty close if you start playback of the Virtual Soundcard at the exact same time on 2 identical playback devices (not that it would be practical to do this anyhow), but even then there's no guarantees.

For perfect synchronization, the playback devices would have to communicate with each other and be in precise control of the audio they are playing at a point in time, something that is definitely possible but currently not provided by the UPnP/DLNA specifications.

Hope this answers your question. If this ever does become possible, we'll be all over it. Smile

Thanks!
Scott

This is what i'm trying to accomplish too... So it's not possible to start Pandora on one Laptop and Stream it using Jamcast... Then bring up the Jamcast server on another Laptop and open the virtual soundcard and start playback? Can more than one device connect to the jamcast stream... I feel like I could use my xbox 360 to play the virtual soundcard, and then use my second laptop to play the virtual soundcard and they would be in sync if the network could handle it.

However, for some reason my Second laptop can't open the Virtual Soundcard, it sees it, but Windows Media Player 11 says "No files have been found" when I try to open the Virtual Soundcard playlist... i'm stumped...
