Can someone please help me.

When I instal Jamcast initially it works fine when I play Spotify from my Laptop and stream to the PS3. The PS3 finds Jamcast with no problems and I can open up Jamcast to listen to Spotify through the PS3.

However once I turn things off and return to it later it fails to work, sometimes the Jamcast icon wil show up on the ps3, other times it wont, and when I try to open jamcast I get an error message DLNA 2104.

I can easily keep uninstalling and re installing to get it to work a it does not take long but does anyone know how to solve this?

Thanks

Hi gooner,

Sorry for your troubles. I see alot of reference to this DLNA 2104 error on Google but not really coming up with any causes or solutions. So, some questions if you don't mind:

What are you turning off and turning back on -- the PC or the PS3 (or both)? Can you try and narrow down which power off is causing the issue?

Are you running the PS3 on wifi or wired ethernet? Alot of the stuff I read online seems to point a finger at the network (connection, router, firewalls, etc.)

Are you on the latest PS3 firmware?

Do you see any warnings or errors in the Windows application event log from Jamcast?

Have you tried any other media servers with PS3? Do you have the same issue?

You might try doing a Restore Defaults on the PS3, perhaps there's a setting that's causing this...

Thanks!
Scott

Cheers Scott,

OK, my ps3 is a wired connection but using wireless for my lap top, and I'm using the latest ps3 firmware.

The problem starts as soon as I either turn of the laptop or the ps3. Whenever I try to connect again it fails. As I say sometimes the icon fails to show on the ps3, when I reboot the lap top it will show on the ps3 but then fail to connect giving the 2104 error.

I have been using windows media player 11 with no such problems.

As I said the strange thing is that if I uninstalled jamcast and then installed it again it would work fine.

Cheers

Rob

Hi Rob,

Strange indeed. Well, that helps to know that WMP11 is working good for ya. Can you verify that the Jamcast service is actually running when you receive this error? Also, if Jamcast is erroring out on something it should be reported in the Windows application event log. Anything atypical about your laptops's networking? Is it always getting the same IP from DCHP when you power it up? Do you have a VPN connection or anything like that going on?

Thanks!
Scott

Sorry VPN?? Not sure what that is.

What I have just noticed though id that on the devices page it shows the ps3 as ip address 192.168.1.2 But the default UPnP devise as 192.168.1.3 And it has a question mark on it.

Does this help?

Hey there,

A VPN is a Virtual Private Network. It's a way for you to connect to a remote network, such as connecting to your office from home.

You should see a device for the PS3 with the PS3 icon and the proper IP address. What's at 1.3, is that your PC? Jamcast will show any devices on your network that have communicated with Jamcast, and if the device is not identified it will show up as Default UPnP Device. This is normal in many circumstances, and should have nothing to do with your PS3. As long as the PS3 is showing up properly that should be OK.

I'll try to do some more digging around for what that DLNA error actually means -- the thing that bothers me is that you said WMP11 works fine for you -- I'm assuming from the same PC?

Thanks,

Scott

Hi!

I got the same problem with the DLNA 2104 error on my PS3. This happened after I activated media sharing in my Windows media player.

The problem was that I had to make my network private when using Windows media player to stream movies. I seems like jamcast only work if my network is set to public.

hope this helps someone

Well I can give it a try (It's in swedish on my computer). You go to the Control panel - Network and Internet - Network and sharing.... From here you should be able to adjust your network. Choose between public and private and see what happens.
