I have been running Jamcast very happily for some time, but recently updated the software to your new version. I have a PC based network and a Soundbridge. Once I updated the software and reconnected my Soundbridge to the Jamcast server, I got a message on the soundbridge screen asking me to approve the device in my software. When I attempted to approve the device, however, I received the message: an unhandled program exception has occurred. Please contact tech support. I have shut down (temporarily) my firewall to make certain that was not a competing factor.

Hello,
If I try unchecking the "Force hardware capture mode" I also get the unhandled program exception has occurred message.
I am running Vista home premium

Hello,

I was able to reproduce this issue and will address is in the next update.

However, you shouldn't typically need to mess with device approval as you know from previous experience with Jamcast. Is the "Automatically approve new devices for DRM playback" checked?

What I might recommend in this case is an uninstall/reinstall of Jamcast. This will clear the device cache and hopefully when your Soundbridge is re-discovered the approval process will happen behind the scenes and you'll be OK.

Let me know how you do.

Thanks!
Scott

Hello,

Sorry for the troubles with this. For this issue I need some additional information if you don't mind -- please check the Windows application event log for more details:

Start->Run and type "eventvwr.exe"

Then navigate to Windows Logs, Application and look for the error event with source "Jamcast Server Manager" (it should have a timestamp that corresponds with when you got the error). When you find it, double-click and paste the detail here if you don't mind.

Thanks!

Thanks, Scott. Yes, the automatically approve check box is checked. I've gone through the logs and see no error events with the Jamcast source which is odd. I will next try to reload the software and will then be back in touch.

We're good now. Removed the old software completely and then did clean reinstall. Up and running with ease. Many thanks.

You're welcome! This may have been related to a recent IP address change on the Soundbridge. In any case, I'll be looking into the matter further.

Glad you're up and running. Smile

Thanks!
