First, the usual apologies if this has been covered, couldn't find it...

I have ATT Uverse, first tried TVersity to share from my networked PC and it worked except no virtual sound card so I can't listen to streaming internet (Pandora). Found Jamcast, am able to 'see' server, but when I try to open the music playlists, I get a (typically useless) error message saying there was a 'problem' opening the 'container' (Music->Playlists) and I'm stuck. I've tried stopping the TVersity server, and since TVersity requires that I set the ATT router to XBox, I tried configuring the server devices to ImpersonateWMC set to True, no effect on response from doing either. Also tried setting the ProtocolInfo to mpeg and ForceMP3CaptureStream to True (desperation). Any help would be greatly appreciated, the potential capability of this software will change my life....

Hi jneal,

I'll try my best. Smile

What device are you streaming to? Is it an Xbox360? You mentioned the Xbox but that error message on the 360 is unfamiliar to me (or maybe I'm just forgetting).

Can you browse/play other shared media from the device?

Also, I'm unfamiliar with any "gotchas" regarding the ATT Uverse service. Can you catch me up on what you know about it as it related to TVersity?

Thanks!
Scott

Hi Scott,

First, I am able to stream mp3's from my PC to my television using TVersity thru the UVerse central router (I'm "technical" but not particularly cutting edge with computers, so bear with me). My PC, the 'router', and all the boxes above the tv's are networked and can see each other. As far as TVersity goes, the only reason I mentioned XBox is the TVersity readme said that if you have ATT UVerse, you needed to set the 'Media Playback Device' to 'XBox 360' (default was 'Auto Detect'Wink.

I did look at what error message shows up in the event viewer on my PC when I try to access Jamcast on the TV, here's what I get:

"An unhandled exception occurred while processing a request @ HttpConnection.receiveHttpRequest(): Length cannot be less than zero.
Parameter name: length"

Please let me know what else you need to know from my end, I really want to get this working. Thank you.

Hello,

Can you confirm that the event viewer message directly corresponds with the error you get on the TV, each time?

The error message is indicative of a weird HTTP request coming from the TV, or a possible bug in Jamcast's HTTP stack. As the error message is unfortunately a bit vague, the quickest thing to do here would be to get a network trace of this activity between the TV and Jamcast so as to see exactly what is going on.

Are you familiar with Wireshark? http://wireshark.org

If you're feeling confident with trying that out, download it and start a capture and reproduce the error and then stop the capture, save it to a file, and email that file to support@sdstechnologies.com.

I also have a network capture utility that is a bit more simplified (although is not as rock-solid as Wireshark), so if you'd prefer I can get that to you along with a procedure to get the capture to me for analysis.

Let me know how you'd like to proceed.

Thanks!
Scott

Thanks Scott, I'll try wireshark and see how it goes; to answer your other question, the error in event viewer corresponds exactly to when I get the error trying to stream with Jamcast.

Cool, thanks for clarifying. You should have good luck with Wireshark, it's really not terribly complicated to use although it might appear a bit daunting at first.

FYI the capture file, once you've saved it, can be compressed greatly so don't forget to ZIP it up before emailing it to me.

Looking forward to your reply.

Thanks!
