Hi nibbler,

Do you have a webcam or Skype by chance? These sometimes change your Windows audio settings to use the microphone (in the case of the webcam, the embedded microphone).

Thanks!

Meaning that you cannot disconnect it?

Is this a laptop?

Hello,

If you right-click the speaker icon in your system tray and choose Playback Devices, what do you see there? Are there multiple devices listed? If so, which one is set as the default?

Thanks!

How about on the recording devices tab, is that microphone listed and is it set as the default?

This typically doesn't matter but you may have stumbled onto an exception to the rule.

Thanks!

Or, you can disable from there too.

I didn't ask you this before, but you don't have the "Force hardware audio capture mode" option enabled do ya? It's on the Options tab in the Jamcast Server Manager.

You can also paste your medialog.txt to http://pastebin.org and share the link here so I might have a peek at it in case there are any clues in there.

Thanks!

And now i managed to remove the mic thats inside my machine totaly, so i can even start Jamcast. With this error-msg: "An error occurred while attempting to start the Jamcast service. PLease check the Windows application event log for more details.

If the problem persist, please contact technical support for assistance."

Hey nibbler,

Alright, put your recording setting back the way they were and uncheck that Force hardware capture mode option and restart Jamcast.

By having that selected, you're telling Jamcast to capture from whatever the default recording input is (the microphone in your case). On Vista this is unnecessary in most cases and won't work with your soundcard anyhow.

Does that help?

Thanks!

Great!

Hey, just out of curiosity, why did you check the Enable hardware capture mode option? The reason I'm asking is I'm wondering if the wording next to that option on the UI is not clear or is perhaps confusing.

Thanks!

Makes sense, I suspected as much. I'll work on the wording there so it's more clear.

Thanks!
