I've had Jamcast working fine with my Omnifi and Rhapsody on my XP PC for over a year. Upgraded to Windows 7 and I can stream Rhapsody to the Omnifi and I can see the Jamcast virtual sound card on the Omnifi, but there is no sounds.

I get a "program wants to make changes to the computer" warning when I'm in Rhapsody and try to open the Jamcast utility. It also sometimes won;t open at all.

It did work after I first tested it after installing WIndows7 and Jamcast (one of the first programs I reinstalled), but something has changed.

Any help is appreciated.

More info: I can play music through Jamcast on the Omnifi, it only the virtual sound card doesn't work - the only thing I really use it for.

Hi Larry,

Thanks for stopping by. Sorry to hear that you ran into some troubles here.

Does the Omnfi show up as "Omnifi Digital Media Streamer" in Jamcast Server Manager, on the Devices tab?

Are you using Jamcast with any other devices, or just the Omnifi?

Regarding the warning message you receive when you try to open the Jamcast Server Manager, this is due to Windows UAC (User Access Control). Jamcast does advertise that requires elevated permissions to run, so this warning is normal when UAC is configured as such. Is it possible you had UAC turned off altogether before reinstall?

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply. I had gotten it to work after reading the tips on showing hidden devices in the device manger and playing around with it a bit more. It worked fine until a couple of days ago when I noticed my speakers had been muted (I'm the only user). When I unmuted them, I could no longer stream from my sound card to the Omnifi.

As the first time, the omnifi is listed in the Jamcast manager, the virtual sound card is selectable in the Omnifi and when selected appears to be playing (the timer is active), but there is no sound.

I can select and play music through the Omnifi by selecting Rhapsody, so in general the network and omnifi work.

Also, I could not open the Jamcast Manager by doulbe clicking or right clicking the Jamcast icon in the lower right toolbar. I could not fix this by repairing the install, but I did after deleting the program and reinstalling.

Hi hawkdl2,

The Virtual Soundcard audio capture should just work out of the box on Windows 7. On the Virtual Soundcard tab in Jamcast Server Manager, how do you have that set up at the moment?

Strange about Server Manager... I don't really get many reports to that effect. It might be confusing a bit that in Windows 7 you only have to single-click to get the application to appear...

Thanks!

Scott,

It was set on "windows core audio loopback...". I just changed it to "sound card or other..." and it works fine now. I had not changed this setting from when it was working and then suddenly stopped working, so I don;t know what happened but I should be fine until the next time.

Thanks for helping.

You're welcome! Smile

Let me know if I can help with something else.
