Hello

I have a problem to which I can't see an answer on the forum. After about an hour of streaming the sound cuts in and out at about 1 second intervals. I am streaming through home-plugs, not wifi.

Any suggestions on how to cure this would be gratefully received because otherwise the system works beautifully.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Junkanoo,

Thanks for reporting this. To what device are you streaming to, and are you using any special device profile settings like "EnableSeekTrickMode"? Is this pretty consistent as far as being able to stream with no issues for an hour and then you always encounter this problem?

Thanks!

Hi

Thanks for the reply. I am in France. I am streaming from my modem/router via "home-plugs" to a set-top box which will also receive terrestrial TV plus TV via the internet. The box is provided by my internet provider. When I get the problem I go back 2 stages on the set-top box and re-buffer and the the stream is OK again. Of course, it is possible that the problem lies within the set-top box but I have to say that if I stream MP3s from my hard disk the problem does not occur.

I have enabled "SeekTrick Mode" and "ForceCapture MP3Mode" but the problem was there before I did that. The problem is consistent - it always happens with Jamcast but never with MP3 streaming, and the stream is absolutely fine until it occurs. If I do nothing the stream eventually stops.

I can live with it fairly happily but it would be very nice if it did not happen.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi junkanoo,

I guess the difference with the Virtual Soundcard would be it's over an hour of continuous streaming, versus with MP3's off disk are a series of different streams played sequentially. If you're sure the EnableSeekTrickMode setting is out of play, it seems reasonable to believe that over time some resource(s) become less able to handle steady and continuous playback. Of course, this issue could exist on either the Jamcast side or with the device. I'm aware of no such issues with Jamcast at this time...

What I might suggest is checking the memory/CPU usage for Jamcast when the problem occurs, to see if these values are perhaps alarming. For memory usage, use the Diagnostics section in Jamcast Server Manager as it will give us a more accurate and true value representing Jamcast's memory usage. For CPU utilization, use Windows Task Manager.

Let me know what you find.

Thanks!

Hi

Sorry not to have been in touch - I have had a lot of computer problems. Anyway, I have a new computer now running Windows 7. I have installed Jamcast again and everything is working beautifully.

The problem was with my machine not Jamcast.

Wonderful!!!

Cheers.

Hi junkanoo,

Thanks for getting back to us on that! Glad that everything is working good for you now.

Did you figure out specifically what it was about your older PC that was causing the issue? It's OK if you're over it, I wouldn't blame you. Smile

Thanks!

Hi again

I had lots of problems with the old machine which I now put down to hardware issues. Sometimes it would not boot properly, it would take an age to shut down ( I had to use the hibernate feature) and sometimes software did not run correctly.

I am really pleased that Jamcast works for me now. I also use it to stream to my two internet radios. It's a great piece of kit!

Thanks for your interest and support.

Cheers.
