Right now, Virtual Soundcard mode works fine for audio, but stays stuck on the screen with the Jamcast logo.

How about adding customizable DLNA folder nodes where I can run a single .EXE on my host computer before starting the new virtual soundcard stream?? This would allow me to also send an IR-code to my AV source component that the PC is attached to and switch the audio feed.

It would also make sense to allow station art for the Virtual Soundcard audio source to be user-provided, so we can look at a .jpg instead of the static Jamcast logo.

Here is the new DLNA layout suggestion:

Jamcast
*---Virtual Soundcard
*----PC Channel 1 (w/ cover art)
*----PC Channel 2 (w/ cover art)
*----PC Channel 3 (w/ cover art)
*----PC Channel 4 (w/ cover art)

Any ideas...?
Wild Media Server already uses this DLNA technique of playing a dummy file to trigger actions on the remote server PC extremely well.

I would love to see this also implemented on top of Jamcast's soundcard streaming.

Hi foganime,

Thanks for stopping by! We appreciate your feedback. Smile

We have a new plugin API that shipped with Jamcast v1.7, which has not been officially announced yet nor the docs published, but that will happen any day now. Essentially, one could write a Jamcast plugin that inserts a new option at the main menu "Commands", and then one or more commands could be executed from that submenu. The plugin would allow this, and also the user interface to make the commands very configurable.

Even though that would be separate from the Virtual Soundcard stream in the browse tree, it would also be more powerful overall. Did I understand your request correctly, and would the approach I mention here satisfy the request?

Thanks!
Scott

Yes, that's what I had in mind, a selectable command from the DLNA browse tree to remotely change the station on my connected radio.
