Hi,

I had Jamcast running beautifully with 0.9.3 Android version but since the update, my phone just sits on "connecting" when trying to play any media but doesn't actually start, be it from the library or virtual soundcard. It appears to timeout after a few minutes and goes back to the menu screen, out of the "now Playing" screen, without music.

Any suggestions Scott (or anyone else)? Confused

Hi Kevin!

Sorry to hear that -- that's moving in the wrong direction! Blink

First, did you uninstall 0.9.3 before installing 0.9.4 -- and are you running 0.9.4 from Android Market? I'd recommend a fresh start on the phone, then a restart of the Jamcast Server and see if that helps.

If not, could you reproduce the problem and then immediately send me a diagnostics report? I think you remember, but just in case you cal send the report via the menu on the device.

Thanks!
Scott

Hi Scott,

Thanks for the quick reply - and a successful reply. Originally I went to the website for the download and did an update rather than the fresh install. I have just uninstalled the original 0.9.4 software and redownloaded it from the market place - working beautifully again!

I didn't send a diagnostics report before I uninstalled the product because I'm stupid!!! But I have just sent a working one, not that that will help much!

Anyway, thanks for the good advise

Scott,

I think I claimed victory too earlySad I can stream music from the files correctly but the cant stream the virtual soundcard. I think I remember seeing another topic similar when I was searching this morning. When I click Virtual soundcard it goes into the now playing screen, then an error message flashes up saying "Track Virtual Soundcard cannot be streamed"

Hi kevin,

Is it only the Virtual Soundcard track that you're having problems with? All of your music tracks are playing OK?

Paste your medialog.txt to http://pastebin.com and then share the link here, I'll have a look.

Thanks!

Yes, just the virtual sound. Have tried a number of different sound sources from the pc but no joy. It was working before.

Where do I find the medialog.txt file, in the install directory?

Hi Kevin,

Thanks for your patience, I'm sorry for taking a few days to get back to you. Your logfile reveals that Jamcast cannot initialize the audio capture due to an unsupported audio format issue as noted here:

Code:
ERROR: Unable to initialize WASAPI audio capture client (HRESULT=0x88890008, format=PCM 32-bit 44kHz 2 channels)

I think you can solve this by:

1) Right-click the speaker icon in the Windows system tray (next to the clock) and choose "Playback devices"
2) Double-click your playback device (ie "speakers"Wink
3) Click the Advanced tab and set the default format to the "CD Quality" setting.
4) Apply your changes, restart Jamcast Server, and try again

If that doesn't work, you might try using the "DVD Quality" setting (48000kHz). Essentially we need to guess what format your card wants to capture in.

Let me know how you do, or if you need further advice on this issue.

Thanks!
Scott
