I try to use Virtual Soundcard.
My receiver Onkyo TX-NR709 supports DLNA. But the Virtual Soundcard is unavailable, it has a red cross on it. Look at the picture.
The pc is running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.

Hi Mikael,
Thanks for stopping by and checking out Jamcast. That's really strange to see the red X there, on the folder, and especially on the Podcasts folder too. Hmm...
Try this: open Jamcast Server Manager, click the Devices tab, double-click the device that represents the Onkyo TX, then set ForceMP3CaptureStream to True. Apply you settings and restart the device. Does that help?
Thanks!
Scott

Didn't work.

Trying to test it on my ps3 now... the virtual soundcard works there. But how long is the delay supposed to be?

Hi Mikael...
Thanks for reporting back. It's good to know that things are OK with the PS3 -- the delay will vary depending on the quality of your network connection (is it connected wirelessly?), but it does consume a fairly large playback buffer before initial playback. I'd say normal is between 5-10 seconds.
With the Onkyo, how about EnableSeekTrickMode -- if you set that to True, does that help?
Thanks!

I have an Onky TX-NR509 and it also wouldn't play, but I found a workaround.
Add the Virtual Soundcard stream URL to the favorites list of your Onkyo and it will play.
1) Open your Onkyo's favorites list in your internet browser (by accessing the Onkyo's IP address)
2) Add a favorite with the following url (where ?.?.?.? is Jamcast's IP address and 58642 the Jamcast port)
:
http://?.?.?.?:58642/Media/audio/mpeg/CaptureStream
3) Access My Favorites on your Onkyo and PLAY!

Hi Mikael,
That's easy enough, I've extended your trial period for you. Hope you are able to resume troubleshooting and hopefully get this working real quick!
To acquire your extended license, just run the Jamcast installer again.
Thanks!

http://192.168.1.2
:58647/Media/MP3/CaptureStream
:-(

Has anyone come up with any solution to this one yet?
I have Onkyo TX-NR509 and I'm having exactly the same problem as OP and none of the solutions in this thread work.
The only working solution I've come up with is using Foobar2000's UPNP controller's Playback Stream Capture and then playing Jamcast's FLAC capture stream through that (you'll have to set Foobar's volume to 0 for this to work). It would be great to get this working directly between my receiver and Jamcast without Foobar in the middle.
edit: Actually I have Onkyo TX-NR609. Damn typos and my lack of proof reading.

Hey guys,
I'm going to send a private message to each of you with a link to the latest build of Jamcast. There is a particular fix in there that I am interested to see if it solves this issue with the Onkyo devices.
We've had excellent results with the Onkyo devices in the past, so this leads me to believe something broke in a more recent version of Jamcast. Just a possible theory...
Check your inbox here for more info.
Thanks!

Adding my observations to this thread...
I have two Onkyo receivers: a TX-NR708 and a TX-NR609. Both receivers have the latest firmware as of Dec 10, 2011. I just heard of Jamcast yesterday and I'm giving it a try. It works fine with the TX-NR708 but I get the same symptoms describe in this thread on the TX-NR609 (red 'x' on Virtual Soundcard folder, etc.). I've tried both methods of connecting the receiver (network favorites with Jamcast Server URI and DLNA menus). Both work on the TX-NR708 and neither work on the TX-NR609. Both receivers are connected to the network via wired Ethernet and the TX-NR609 can stream Spotify and Pandora so I'm sure there isn't an Ethernet or IP problem with the network or the TX-NR609. It seems something in the handshake between the TX-NR609 and the Jamcast Server isn't going smoothly.
Scott/Jamcast TS, if the latest build you're privately sharing fixes the problem with 2011 Onkyo receivers could you please share the fix with me too?
Either way, I'm going to buy a license. It is a bummer it is not working with the TX-NR609 but just being able to play Spotify on the TX-NR708 via Virtual Soundcard is worth $30.

Unfortunately the latest fix didn't solve the problem for me. I also have installed the latest firmware on my Onkyo TX-NR609.
I'm also sure there is no network problem, because I can stream audio using Foobar2000's UPnP stream capture on the same computer I am running JamCast.

With respect to the Onkyo devices, I'm not sure what's going on yet but it's clear that some compatibility issues have cropped up as of recent -- historically we've not had much issue with these devices but with software constantly changing on both ends of the wire it's entirely feasible that something is now amiss.
It is curious that some Onkyo devices are OK while others are not...
I'm going to reach out to our friends Onkyo USA and see if I can't get any insight into the problem. I will report back here when I hear something...
Anyone make any progress on this in the meantime?
Thanks!
Scott

This is great! You solved the problem for me
I have an onkyo 509 and it wouldn't play the virtual sound card until I setup a My Favorites URL as described above.

Hey guys,
Regarding the Onkyo devices, I received the TX-NR609 this week and experienced no problems with the Virtual Soundcard whatsoever. So, I'm very interested in figuring out what issues are in play here.
For starters, do you all have the latest firmware from Onkyo? My device is up to date and reports this version of the firmware:
1211-1300-0010-6104
And is everyone seeing a red X next to the Virtual Soundcard track, indicating that it is not playable?
Thanks!
Scott

Hi, I have the exact same firmware on the Onkyo TX-NR609 and still have the red X next to the Virtual Soundcard. Seeing that this is the only reason I purchased Jamcast, it's slightly inconvenient. Yes, I've tried all the fixes you've suggested, Scott. I downloaded the Feb 29 release of Jamcast, too, to no avail. If you have a possible beta-fix, please e-mail it to me...

For some reason the MyFavorites-fix stopped working too. Says "Connection Error. The server connection could not be established or was terminated early. Please try again later." This worked fine a couple of days ago (Before installing the newest version of Jamcast. What now? Am I stuck with a 40 dollar product that is completely useless? (Yes I sprang for the extra 10 for lifetime updates... Fat lot of good that does, now...)
