Hi there,

I'm new to DLNA technologies, so forgive me if I've missed something
here.

I have a Sony BDP-570 DVD player. I've read the specs and it seems
to support DLNA servers.

I have a home wireless network.

My laptop is connected to the wireless network, and I've installed
Jamcast on it. The jamcast server is up and running.

But, when i go to the Devices tab and search for the S570, it
doesn't see anything.

I go to the S570 and search for what it calls Server Connections, and
it doesn't see anything either.

I know the local IP addresses of both these devices on my network,
but there doesn't seem to be any way to add the ip addresses manually.

Can someone help if I've missed something?

regards

Paul

Hey Paul,

Nope, so far you've not missed anything. Under ideal circumstances Jamcast and your Sony device would have magically found each other on the network once they were both connected and running. This is a key feature of DLNA.

Commonly, firewalls and other internet security products can get in the way of this magic. If you have any firewalls, Norton, or any other security products I'd recommend you disable them completely as a temporary troubleshooting measure. Then, restart the Jamcast service.

If that doesn't help, there is a Jamcast logfile that might have some clues. If you could, find upnplog.txt in your Jamcast program folder and paste it to http://pastebin.com. Then, share the pastebin link here so I can have a look for you.

Thanks!
Scott
