Hi there!
I installed the trial of jamcast on a Win7(64) PC and I want to stream the current audio output to my PS3. Unfortunately, I can't get it work:
The PS3 shows the virtual soundcard in the menu, and when I select it, the PS3 seems to start streaming (the screen changes and the audio output format of the PS3 changes to stereo PCM, which I can see on my Pioneer Amp). But there is only silence, no sound at all. After a few seconds, the PS3 stops streaming and goes back to the main menu.
Do I have to configure something special? Any idea whats the problem?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Regards,
Vio

Hi Scott,
Yes, that's the solution, thank you very much!!! :-)
I read this thread yesterday but I modified the wrong setting. Everythings fine now! Nice piece of software by the way.
One question: Is this a PS3 bug?
Regards,
Vio

Hi Vio,
Great!
I don't think we can call it a bug... but I'm not sure I understand why Sony has an audio setting that breaks their DLNA audio player like that. It's been this way for quite some time, I have to believe they know about it and want it to be there...
I'm not really sure.
Thanks!
Scott

Hi Scott,
I have another question:
jamcast also works with my Pioneer SC LX 81
The amp streams the virtual soundcard as MP3, is it possible to force PCM streaming? What is the PS3 streaming? PCM or MP3?
Thanks in advance!
Regards,
Vio

Hi Vio,
Great news regarding that beautiful Pioneer receiver... I don't believe I've heard any other compatibility reports on that device so I appreciate your feedback!
Have you enabled ForceMP3CaptureStream on the Pioneer via Jamcast's device profile editor? Or possibly any changes to the devices ProtocolInfo property? If so, this is probably why the Pioneer is streaming MP3.
If not... I'm going to send you a link to a more current build, it has a particular fix in it that could possibly cause the Pioneer to regard the LPCM stream (which should definitely be provided to the device, by default) as invalid. It's reasonable that it would fall back on the MP3 stream (also provided by default) causing the behavior you report.
Let me know what you find. Happy New Year!
Thanks!
Scott

Hi Scott,
I have a new problem (virtual soundcard):
The amp now streams as PCM, that's fine, but the connection to the server is dropped/lost after a few minutes. Streaming with PS3 works with no problems for hours. So I assume that my amp causes the problem.
Any idea how we can find out what the problem is and why the connection is dropped?
Thanks!
Vio
